Assistant Organizer FAQ Page

So you Wanna Organize?

You are embarking on a challenging and rewarding role in our group. It can be overwhelming and a little intimidating stepping up into an Organizer position but once you get the hang of using the system and knowing where to look for resources, it becomes very easy and fun! These tools will help you to become a successful organizer. Good luck and if you have any questions at all, please feel free to ask...

What is an Assistant Organizer?
An Assistant Organizer or AO for short is a very important role in our group. To be able to offer many different and fun activities for our members, we need Assistant Organizers to help plan the events as well as help with various responsibilities to make our group successful.

How do I become an Assistant Organizer?

Most AOs are choosen because they are bringing something wonderful to our group, and the "AO" title makes it easier for them to do their duties. If a member is interested in being an AO, they must follow the group's policies, and:

*be active in the group
*be energetic about the group and their role
*be responsible
*be organized
*be willing to help the team reach their goals

In addition, it also helps if the member has been an active member for at least 2 months, but it's not required. Some Assistant organizers have been asked on specifically by the organizer for specific reasons. Others have had an idea for the group, such as a 'sub group' or 'program', or a mass idea of events, and offered to put it into action. We encourage members to become group leaders for such things like "charity leader" or "fitness leader". Please contact Crystal if you have an idea you'd like to put into action!

I'm an AO! What's expected of me?

Congrats! Now that you are an AO, besides the requirements mentioned above, Aos are expected to follow certain guidelines as follows:

*Remain respectful of other organizers. We are a team, and although we may have different goals for the group, we are all here for the same reason: To bring to together moms and kids!
*Please post/host (Host in meaning, show up and run the show, whether it be at a park, show, etc.) an event at least once a month.
*Check in with the organizer once a week. (phone number will be provided) This helps keep all Ao's work corrdinated together so there are no problems.
*PLEASE stick to your specific duties. (Will be explain at time of 'promotion') If something needs to be done otherwise please contact the organizer to either get it taken care of or get permission to.
*Please limit your mass emails to news about important upcoming dates or changes. Other emails should be cleared through the organizer first.

Congrats! It's a wonderful rewarding experience to organize! We're glad you're joining the team!

We are looking forward to having a great team! Thanks for the interest!

sub groups or programs
  • secret sister- Secret sister is designed to help create a tighter close knit group. The even will take place once every three months, for a month. The event should be planned a month in advance. It should take place in a relaxed setting like a member's home. Those that RSVP will be assigned a SS each week of the month their secret sister must send them a nice momento, either a nice e-card or email. It's great if they even send some funny story about themselves or something so they can really get know each other. At the event each SS will bring a small gift for their SS. Then a Reveal!

  • babysitter exchange/Moms Only event- The person who runs this program will have to be very organized, but the basic idea is members take turns babysitting each others kids and then not having to pay! when members babysit, they earn credits and those credits can be used to so many hours of babysitting towards each kid. I'd like to see this happen at least twice a month. During the exchange I would like to have a second event during the same time for the moms: Once a month it would be nice to be nice to have a mom's day off where they can do whatever they want, other times I may plan a movie or the quarterly babyshower, etc.

  • meals for new moms- this event will take place for each pregnant member that would like to recieve this gift. The event should take place like a regular playgroup. Except attendendees bring one freezer meal as a gift to the new mom. These convientmeals are great for the first week with their new born. We may also do this whena family household member is in the hosiptal, etc. If wanted instead of meals attendees can bring a small gift to add to a gift basket (the choice is up to the mom to be) Please note this is not a baby shower which will be a quarterly event for all new moms.
  • OAMC group- Thus is a group that gets together to discuss once a onth cooking stragedies, saving on groceries, and swapping recipes.
  • Health Group- This group supports the struggles of those moms whom want to lose the baby wieght. We talk about strdegies, share recipes, and exchange work out items.
  • Green Goddesses- This group is for those whom would like to be more green by using organic materials and do things good for the enviroment. each meetup we'll bring in 'homework' for tips on a certain subject like organic cooking, saving electricty, etc.
  • The train Game- Freecycle group. The event can have a theme or can be free for all, however the rule is, you cannot take more than you bring back. Themes could be reading material,, household items, or baby clothes!
  • book Club- self explanatory
  • Moms of Multiples- supportfor mothers of twins or more.
  • Potty Training Support
  • Breastfeeding Support

Have another Idea?! Just let me know you want to plan it! You can get lots of ideas from the meetup mom http://organizer.meet...
